The LAZY DIAMONDS’ third CD, Live ’n’ Lazy, is also the band’s first live album. Recorded in April 2008 at a concert at the “KUGA”, it contains rousing live versions of selected tracks from their first two studio productions. Earthy, no-frills blues-rock…

The story behind this live recording of the Lazy Diamonds at the KUGA is one that underlines an important fact: that spontaneity, a bit of reckless abandon and the removal of expectations allow a creative force that wouldn’t even be approachable with careful planning, no matter how detailed. And so it was that the Lazy Diamonds went on stage at the KUGA on 4th April 2008 with only one aim: to prove to their audience that the Blues is very much alive and definitely kicking. Dressed uniformly in black suits and bowler hats, the four men delivered a raucous performance with the opening number, Hallelujah, setting the scene for what was to come. The Diamonds set their Gibson Flying Vs to rapid-fire mode and shot one original blues-rock bullet after another at their captivated audience, finally topping it all off with a rollicking Not The One.

Although the Lazy Diamonds never had any intention of recording this concert, let alone releasing it as a CD, they discovered afterwards that the KUGA’s recording equipment had been turned on as a test run for an English blues band playing the following night. The Diamonds listened to the raw recording and knew straight away that it was worthy of a live CD. All that remained was to remix and master it and these two duties were capably carried out by Gerhard Nimmervoll and Gerry Böhm respectively. The result is now commercially available for all those who are already turned on to the Lazy Diamonds and for those who, especially after listening to this concert, are destined to join the growing ranks of fans.
